Joined Efficiency and Productivity Evaluation of Tunisian Commercial Seaports Using DEA-Based Approaches

Seaports are important infrastructures to support international trade. Therefore, it is vital that port efficiency and productivity continuously evaluated improved. In this context, the objective of article evaluate both technical change in six most Tunisian commercial seaports, Bizerte, Rades, Sousse, Sfax, Gabes, Zarzis, over a period twelve years from 2005 2016. To achieve objective, data envelopment analysis (DEA) method applied. The first output-oriented DEA application about evaluation, which, for each seaport, allows estimation overall efficiency, pure scale efficiency. second concerns evolution seaports during study using Malmquist DEA-based index. performed according year (period) studied seaport. provides above-mentioned ports 69.4% while 83.3%. Furthermore, average 82.6%, which implies decreasing type returns dominates study. Regarding evolution, obtained results revealed fell by 6.7%, mainly due degradation technological (8.3%). provide useful basic criteria establishing improvement strategies
